Seventh-day Adventists highly value the prophetic ministry of Ellen G. White (1827-1915). For seventy years she provided counsel, guidance, exhortation, and encouragement to the growing SDA Church and left a legacy of writings still cherished today.
She was a person of great faith who loved the Lord Jesus Christ and honored the Bible as the Word of God. She exercised her prophetic gift with care and discretion, pointing all people to Christ for salvation, as beautifully exemplified in her classic work, Steps to Christ. Her prophetic legacy, however, has been severely criticized on the Internet. Numerous websites portray her as legalistic, harsh, condemning, defensive, revengeful, boastful, self-contradictory, inconsistent, deceptive, unscriptural, and anti-Gospel, among other things.
The purpose of this website is to provide answers to these charges and set forth the real Ellen White of history. Although we do not claim to have all the answers, there is a sizable body of evidence supporting our position.
In recent years, Adventist scholars specializing in Ellen White studies have produced landmark dissertations, articles, and books that provide remarkable insights into Ellen White’s times, personal life, and theology. This extensive scholarship will be employed throughout the content of this site. As we grow and develop, other Ellen White specialists will be invited to collaborate with the editor in producing material appropriate for this site.
